Spinach Poori | Palak Poori

Spinach or Palak one of the Healthy leafy vegetable which is very famous and popular in India. With this leafy vegetable you can made so much variety of dishes which are very tasty as well as nutritious too. For everybody it is very essential to have a leafy vegetable in their daily diet. In our Indian Recipe a very famous Dish is Palak Paneer. So their is many options to choose to do special Recipe with Spinach.You can take spinach as you want it. You can cook it directly or blanched or Boiled or Steamed.as per your choice.

If you ask for Nutritional Facts about Spinach,then there is lots of things to say about spinach nutrition. The main thing about Spinach it is a great source of Iron and Calcium. Spinach is full of rich in antioxidant. Then Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C are the common one in Spinach too. Spinach is good source of folic acid also. A research was done from United States Department of Agriculture states "that a 180-g serving of boiled spinach contains 6.43 mg of iron, whereas a 170-g ground hamburger patty contains at most 4.42 mg" source - Wikipedia.

Spinach Poori | Palak Poori


Recipe by Nabanita Das
Prep time: 45 mins
Cook time: 15 mins

Ingredients
  • 3 cups Wholewheat flours
  • 1 Cup Spinach Puree
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 2 pinch Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp + Deep fry white oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Green chili
  • 2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Medium size Tomato
Cooking Directions

To make Spinach puree :
  • Blanch Spinach with tomato & make a paste with green chili & ginger into mixture.
  • For Poori :
  1. Add salt,cumin seeds,asafoetida, 2 tbsp oil consecutively with wholewheat flours.Mix well.
  2. Now add the spinach puree into it and make a soft dough with adequate water.
  3. Keep it to set for 20-30 min.
  4. Now make little balls from the dough and prepare like a poori with the help of roll pin.
  5. Heat oil for deep frying.
  6. Fry poori until little brown in color.
  7. Serve Poori with raita, pickle or with any delicious vegetables.
