Cucumber Onion Raita Recipe | Indian Condiment Recipe

Sorry for delaying post. Busy with so many things . Mind is also dull and feeling not well. Still trying to write.

Today sharing one tempting condiment recipe which is very popular in India. Origin story about Raita is very little. Basically the word Raita is coming from the Sanskrit word Rajika. Rajika defines black mustard . Raita is a combination of yogurt sauce which is seasoned with cumin seeds , black mustard seeds , green chili and some other spices too. It is served in any Indian occasion along with main course. Its tasty and healthy too. It is believe that it can help to reduce digestion problem after eating any spicy foods. Raita can be made in different categories. But very common raita is cucumber onion raita. Raita is always served chilled.

As per nutrition value this raita consists very healthy ingredients like yogurt , cucumber , onion. Yogurt is a good source of calcium, little iron and vitamin c, whereas cucumber contains vitamin C,vitamin A ,iron and calcium too. Cucumber is very lower in cholesterol. Onion also consists of a good source of Vitamin C and iron and calcium. So more or less it is very healthy condiments with spicy foods.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cook Time : 5 mins
Serve : 4

Ingredients :

2 Cup Fresh Yogurt (Homemade)
1/2 Cup Cucumber Grated or Sliced
1/2 Cup Onion Grated or Sliced
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 Red Chili
2 tbsp Fresh Coriander leaves finely chopped
2 pinch Ginger grated
1 tbsp white oil
Salt to taste
1 tbsp Green chili finely chopped
Black salt to taste
1 tsp roasted cumin,red chili,coriander powder.
1 Cup plain water

Cooking Direction :

Mix one cup plain water in 2 cups yogurt.Stir well to avoid any lumps.
Now add chopped cucumber,onion ,green chili and mix well.
Add all dry spices and mix well.
Now heat oil in tadka pan, add red chili,cumin seeds,mustard seeds and grated ginger.
Now pour the seasoned into yogurt mixture and mix well.
Keep into fridge to make it chilled.
When serve add chopped coriander leaves.
