Creamy Lentil with Fox nut | Dal Makhana Recipe

Sharing one more dal recipe which is just fabulous and healthy too. If you ask about this recipe then in India it defines as Dal Makhana Recipe. Here dal signifies black gram lentils and Makhana refers Fox Nut. With this makhana you can do any kind of curry but I try this one with lentils . And it came really good . Basically this dal recipe belongs to my Mom recipe. It was my favorite Dal Recipe. And I just added makhana here and give one new treat to this recipe. One spicy and healthy dal is waiting for you . Try this at your home and you will love it definitely...

And now over to Nutritional fact of this recipe Foxnut contains starch and protein. And black gram dal contains such nutritional values like protein, fat and carbohydrates. So one healthy recipe with few ingredients. It increase more values in your regular diet chart.



Creamy Black Gram Lentil with Fox Nut | Dal Makhana Recipe

Cook time: 15 mins

Ingredients
  • 1 Cup Mixed Lentils
  • 1 Cup Foxnut | Makhana
  • 1 Big size Onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 Big size Tomato Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 Green Chili
  • 1 tbsp Kasuri Methi | Dried Fenugreek leaves
  • 4 tbsp Coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Roasted Cumin Powder + Red Chili
  • 2 tbsp White Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Bay leaf
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Cream
Cooking Directions
  1. Soak the mixed dal for over night.
  2. Place one pressure cooker on the gas stove.
  3. Heat white oil and add bay leaf .
  4. Add chopped onion , garlic paste, ginger paste and green chili and saute for a while until light brown in color.
  5. Add chopped tomato and fry them well.
  6. Add kasuri methi and fry.
  7. Add roasted cumin powder, and garam masala and fry them until oil comes out.
  8. switch off the gas and let it be cool completely.
  9. Grind it into mixture.
  10. Now put little butter in pressure cooker and add soaked dal and grounded spices,mix well.
  11. Add salt to taste and adequate water to it.
  12. Add fried foxnut or makhana to it.
  13. Cover with pressure cooker lid.
  14. Cook up to 6-8 whistles or until dal cooked completely
  15. Before serving add butter, fresh cream and chopped coriander leaves and serve with Roti or Rice.
