Wishing a Very Happy Neel Shosthi to all of you ! Neel shoshti a very famous festive in Bengal which celebrates in the day of Chaitra Sankranti the last day of before Bengali new year. Shosthi signifies the God of Child. In this day God Shiva is worshiped by mother of children . By doing this puja your children will be blessed by God Shiva and Shosthi. To celebrate this a mother should have to fast whole day. She should take some prasad after doing puja only. This is how we celebrate the Vrat of Neel Shosti. Now I am very eager to share with one exciting recipe from Bengali kitchen which is very famous in every Bengali House. Parwal Bengali calls Pawtol ! Are you laughing ? Really its sounds little different ! Anyway its taste so good and yummy ! Here is some more exciting recipes of parwal but this I like superb ! And more or less its very less spicy and tasty. Its totally pure vegetarian recipe. Try this simple easy recipe of Parwal and you will like it for sure. I prefer to serve it with plain rice.
Ingredients :
6 pcs Parwal (remove skin ,cut into halves and wash thoroughly)
1 big sized Potato (cut into halves )
3 green Chili (slitted)
1 medium tomato (cubes small)
1/2 tsp Onion seeds/ kalo jeera
1 tsp Cumin powder
1/3 tsp Red chili powder
1/3 tsp garam masala powder (cinnamon,green cardamom powder)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 pinch sugar
1/2 cup Oil (Mustard / Refined)

How to Cook :
- Heat oil in a kadhai.
- Add parwal and fry them adding little salt and turmeric powder.
- When it becomes slight golden , keep aside.
- Fry potato cubes adding salt and turmeric and keep aside.
- Now put onion seeds in the remaining oil.
- Add green chili and sugar .
- Add paste of red chili, cumin powder and turmeric powder.
- Make sure gas stove is in simmer.
- After 1 min add 1 cup water to it and put fried parwal and potato .
- Adjust salt .
- Sprinkle garam masal powder.
- When it starts to boil , put off flame and cover to give standing time.
- Serve with plain rice.
