Spicy Egg Curry | Egg Masala | Bengali Style

Today I want to share with you some special non-veg delicacy from heart of Bengal. As you know Bengalis are really fond of some specific Non-Veg items. So besides fishes they all love to eat egg preparations too. And that is the reason I want to share one authentic egg preparation from Bengal. Hope you will be liking it. My mom used to do this curry which is little spicy . And we loved to have it with warm plain rice .

One more thing to share about Bengalis ,there is a tradition in Bengal that they all like to cook any animal protein with some potatoes. Means we Bengali have a tradition to prepare any animals protein like fish,meat,egg, chicken with a combination of potato. Here is not an exception too. Actually here is a scientific reason to cook like this way. That is said, with any animal protein if you take one carbohydrate then it will be much easier to digest protein. And this is the main reason that Bengalis are using fish with potato,egg with potato,meat with potato and chicken with potato.

About Nutritional facts eggs are good source of day to day Protein elements. It contains essential amino acid  which is very supportive for human beings. And it is rich in Folic acid, vitamin A,vitamin B12 vitamin D,iron calcium and many more.




Spicy Egg Curry | Egg Masala | Bengali Style

Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 15 mins

Ingredients
  • 4 Eggs Boiled
  • 1 Large Potato [cut into slice]
  • 2 Medium Onion paste+finely chopped 2 tbsp
  • 2 tbsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp Garlic paste
  • 1 Large Tomato Puree
  • 1 Large Capsicum [cut into slices]
  • 2 Bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala Powder [Cinnamon,green cardamoms,cloves]
  • 1 /2 tsp Red chili powder/green chili paste
  • 6 tbsp Mustard oil/White oil
Cooking Directions
  1. Marinate boiled eggs with little salt ,red chili powder and turmeric powder for 10 mins.
  2. Heat mustard oil in a kadai.
  3. Fry potatoes with little salt and turmeric powder until golden color.keep aside.
  4. Fry eggs until red in color.keep aside.
  5. Now in rest of the oil add bay leaf.
  6. Add chopped onion and onion paste and saute for a while.
  7. Add ginger paste and Garlic paste properly.
  8. Now add cumin powder,coriander powder,red chili powder and 1 tsp garam masala and tomato puree.
  9. Add sliced capsicum.
  10. Fry until oil comes out.
  11. Now add 1 cup warm water and salt to taste.
  12. Add fried potato and eggs.
  13. Let it bring to boil.
  14. Add rest of the garam masala and cover with a lid and give standing time to it.
  15. Serve with plain rice/roti/paratha.
