Friends First of all Wishing a Very Happy Valentine's Day to all Of You. Though today is a lovable Day for all of Us. Still I will share a Traditional Bengali Recipe for you. Hope you will like it. Apart from the recipe I want to share with something new from my life .Hope you will not be bore too! :( You know we have a another special Day in Bengal! Its our Day of Saraswati Puja. We say its Bengal's Valentine Day! And tomorrow is that Day. But there is another reason for this particular Day . We all know that Devi Saraswati is our Goddess of Knowledge, Music, Arts and Science so on that Day we do Saraswati Vandana in our every Household. Honor Puspanjali to Saraswati Devi. For me its very special I obeyed this Day  from beginning of my childhood when I had started my education . And from tomorrow It will become more Special though My Son is going to write his first Letter of Alphabets and He is on the new threshold of Study. So May God Bless Him for His Coming Future. So hope it will be a Most important Day from tomorrow onwards.

Now over to recipe.. Yesterday I committed that I will share one more Authentic Traditional Bengali recipe and that is a Dal or Lentils recipe of Urad. It is a best accompanied with my Yesterday one means Potato in Poppy Seeds Paste and Plain Rice. So Dears hope you will enjoy this Bengali delicacy.




Urad Dal | Biuli r Dal | Traditional Bengali Dal Recipe

Recipe by Nabanita Das
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 15 mins.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Urad Dal (White)
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 2 Pinch Asafoeatida
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions
  1. Pressure Cook Urad Dal with Little salt and ginger paste.
  2. Do not Cook full Boiled.
  3. Mash little boiled dal with a laddle.
  4. Heat oil in Kadai.
  5. Add Bay leaf, Asafoetida , and Fennel Seeds.
  6. When aroma comes out.
  7. Add boiled Dal and little water as you require.(it will be little thick consistency)
  8. Adjust seasoning.
  9. Delicious Urad Dal is ready to serve.

*** Serve with Potato in Poppy Seeds Paste and Plain Rice.
***I do not Use Turmeric Powder in this recipe.Some people adds.
